Shoes
The earliest shoes on record are a pair of sandals from Oregon in the USA that date between 8000 to 7000 BC, though archaeologists think that people have been making and wearing shoes for even longer than that. The only reason that such shoes do not exist and may not ever be found is that they may be made from material that does not age particularly well, like tanned leather. Ancient leather shoes are most commonly found in areas that had experienced colder climates, and sandals tend to be found in warmer places. Shoes have developed substantially from both of these types to include an incredible array of different forms, but interestingly both leather shoes and sandals are still in good use to this day, proving that sometimes the best versions are the originals.
Nowadays there are lots of kinds of material used in shoes, and one of the most prevalent types at the moment is synthetic materials. Shoes do not even need to be hand made anymore, as soles can be glued on, and other parts manufactured out of rubber, plastics, and synthetic cloth. There is a higher demand for these types of shoes in modern society, as there are some groups that think that using leather for any kind of purpose is wrong, so they would prefer to wear shoes that are not made from this material. Synthetic materials are also fairly cheap to produce, and are often an inexpensive alternative to more high-priced leather shoes.
